The Vermont Raise the Wage Coalition is a diverse group of activist and advocacy organizations dedicated to organizing everyday people to raise the wage to $15 an hour in Vermont.
One of the most basic tenets of economic justice is fair wage for fair work. At a minimum, a fair wage includes provision for an adequate standard of living for a worker and her dependents, including: food, clothing, shelter, physical safety, basic health care and preventative care, including care for mental illness, and security from fear of food scarcity.
Moving to a $15-an-hour minimum wage by 2024 will contribute to the overall well-being of our families, communities, businesses and state. It will help boost our economy by attracting more young talented people to the state and by encouraging young families to stay in Vermont ensuring a stronger, more stable, and sustainable future generations of Vermonters.
